Preparation
Planning: Start by designing your project and calculating the required number of pavers, base material, and edge restraints. Ensure you have all necessary permits if required by local regulations. Have the site assessed by a geotechnical engineer to determine the permeability of the soil.
Excavation: Dig the area to the required depth according to the geotechnical engineer’s recommendations.

Fabric
Install permeable geotextile fabric, over the prepared area ensuring it covers the base and sides.

Lay
Clean Stone
Lay Clean ¾ inch 1.9 cm stone. ASTM #57 Install in 6-inch lifts compacted with a plate compactor

Incorporate an
Underdrainage System
The underdrain is a minimum of a 4-inch or 10 cm perforated pipe 6 inches or 15 cm below the bottom of the pavers level. Put sufficient perforated pipe as per the engineering report. Underdrains must be sloped to allow for overflow drainage. 4 inches or 10 cm of Clean ¾ inch 1.9 cm stone ASTM #57 must cover the drainage system.

& Stone
Add a layer of permeable geotextile above the compacted base material. Add 2 inches or 5 cm of ¼ inch or 0.6 cm leveling coarse with clean stone. ASTM #8

Edge restraints
Place the edge restraints around the perimeter of the excavated area, securing them in place with stakes or anchors. A minimum 3-inch or 7.5 cm of expansion gap must be between the edge of the pavers and the edge. See the technical spec sheet for in-depth details of expansion gap requirements.

Lay
Proflow Pavers
Begin laying pavers: Start laying the ProFlow permeable pavers in your desired pattern, following the manufacturer’s guidelines for spacing and pattern. Cut pavers as needed: Use a saw and wire cutters for the mesh. Our 3D Printed Gap Spacers for alignment

Joint
Filler
Fill the joints between them with permeable joint filler. This includes gravel, moss, pebbles, tumbled glass, etc.

Compaction
Compact pavers: Gently use a compactor to settle the pavers, not disturbing the joint filler. Add additional filler if required. This step ensures the stability of the entire system, including any planned greening elements.

Drainage
Test drainage: After installation, test the drainage by pouring water on the surface, ensuring efficient water flow through the pavers and into the base material. This is crucial for the paver system’s success and any greening solutions.

Backfill (Optional)
Backfill with soil: Optionally, backfill the edges of the paver area with topsoil, moss, or other ground cover to seamlessly integrate the paved area with the surrounding landscape, enhancing the overall greening solutions for your project.
